About working with PDF
PDF looks the same everywhere, which is why contracts, invoices and certificates travel in it. Editing it is awkward, though: to merge two files or pull out a couple of pages people usually go to third-party sites and upload the whole document there. That does not happen here: the file is processed in the browser and sent nowhere.
The file never reaches a server

Processing happens in the browser with the page's own code. The document is uploaded nowhere — you can see that because the tool keeps working offline once the page and the processing module have loaded.
Merging

Files are joined in the order you arranged them. Bookmarks and links between documents are not kept — a limitation of the format, not of the tool.

Text and scans
